SeraSeal Efficacy

SeraSeal® has been evaluated for performance and toxicity through animal clinical studies, as well as human applications. The studies consisted of 63 rabbits and 14 dogs, and over 500,000 human patients, with the following applications:

  • Lung
  • Spleen
  • Arteries (hepatic, spleenic, testicular, ovarian)
  • Liver
  • kidney
  • Mandible/maxilla opthamalic surgery
  • Vascular anastomosis
  • Fistulas
  • Root canal
  • Excising tumors
  • Cardio-vascular surgery

Exogenous amounts of SeraSeal® in the amounts of 10 to 100 fold over the average dosage were administered, with no indications of hypotension (low blood pressure), erthyema (rash), or inflammation. Blood samples reflect no changes in the patient’s clotting factors, a screen for a coagulation disorder known as dissimulated intravascular coagulation (DIC).  SeraSeal® is contraindicated in patients sensitive to bovine products and iodine.
